Speaking to the Deeds team on his experience as a creative spanning 4+ years of active work in the industry, Fawaz shares his inspirations, aspirations, and his journey to self-actualization.
In an industry full of geniuses, one’s ability to stick out like a sore thumb goes a long way to opening up opportunities and getting noticed from the inception. Fawaz understands the importance of this and says his biggest selling point is his range.
“I think what makes me stand out the most is my flexibility. I’m able to work with both visuals and images so seamlessly,” he says.
An old soul, who appreciates the beauty of nostalgia, he describes his favourite editing aesthetic as a “retro, scrapbook style.” A multi-disciplinary creative, Fawaz draws inspiration from several creators like “22Jumpstr, TSE, Walter Banks” but his all-time favorites include “Gunnerstahl, Rayscorruptedmind & Awge”
On his biggest lessons working with people in the entertainment industry, Fawaz says,
“I’ve learned that people show love and support based on how much value you can offer. This makes it very easy for people to use you and your art. So you have to stay solid.”
For many creatives, their aspirations and dreams keep evolving as they continue to grow and triumph over old dreams, Fawaz isn’t any different. “I’m still breaking records so I’m not at my proudest yet. But, I’ve had many fulfilling moments.” Still recognizing his talent and skills, he hopes to collaborate and shoot with international mainstream artists like Travis Scott and A$AP Rocky.
On projections and the future of Fawaz Shittu in the next five years, he says
“I see myself making a lot of big moves, solving business and creative problems in my city and globally. Helping put and extending a hand to young people, on achieving their careers and dreams.”
Striking a balance between his forward-thinking self and the present, Fawaz’s parting words are reassuring yet realistic. "It’s never easy. Just do whatever you can to create a positive life for yourself and your loved ones. Don’t forget to stay solid amidst any adversity,” he reiterates.
